The Legacy of Rome

Autor Bruno Ambrogio
en Limba Engleză Paperback
This is the account of the lives of two men not important enough to change history, but a story that reflects the humanity of their times. They live two thousand years apart, on parallel lives that share similar needs and aspirations. They came from different worlds, but they carry the same human traits. One of the two men is Marcus Livius Viridio, born in Cisalpine Gaul in the year 33 A.D. he was a soldier of the 14th Legion, enlisted during the spring of 51 A.D. He marched and bled for Rome in Britannia, Italia, Pannonia and Germania. As a poor peasant boy, he enrolled in the legions as a way to improve his miserable life. Unaware to him, his new career will affect somebody else life, many centuries in the future. Later on, Marcus, now a retired Centurion turns to farming in the area of Deva, Chester, on the English border with Wales. He also unexpectedly, becomes a mine owner and has to deal with a son, now a soldier and the risks associated with it. Two thousand years later, Paul Marchetti, travels from Italy to South Africa on an engineering project contract. Once, back in Italy, the alluring beauty of the African continent and the wonderfully warm weather are too strong to be ignored, making him decide to return to Africa on a permanent basis. With his fortunes turned around, he later settles at head of his multinational software company, Radax Projects. The HQ still based in South Africa, but now with a European branch in London, headed by Paul. His hands are full with Marco in a world very different from the one he lived when he was a younger boy in Italy. Later, both men reached a point in life where they should be settled and looking forward to a stable "normal" life. Does history repeat itself in ways sometimes unexpected? Or somehow the past events influence the actions in the present? Unfortunately, life dishes out surprises to all of us. Marcus and Paul are not different to the unpredictability of life. Both men will have to deal with the new lives they have created until the moment they will reach to the known destination; they will have to turn to themselves to correct the mistakes or the shortcomings of others. Simple people conduct uncomplicated lives, but within their microcosm, they are involved in complex circumstances and life-changing situations. Here, for you, are the lives of Marcus and Paul.
