The Spanish moss blew softly in the breeze as it danced along the sprawling limbs attached to the century old oaks that outlined the yard. The travesty began over a century ago when John Whitley purchased the property from the town doctor. His intentions were all good. He thought that it would offer a suitable home and refuge for his family. It would be a fine place to raise his children and hopefully one day pass on to his grandchildren.
