A romantically rhyming story of a giraffe's soulful change. As an infant, Ginny Giraffe is born extraordinarily small & blue, while alone on an island. So repetitive and childish is the ridicule of her appearance and size, she becomes shy and introverted. To hide herself from the jeering and taunting, sweet Ginny cleverly collects and wears fronds from the island's palm trees. Whenever she needs peace & solitude, she hides in the palm tree clusters. Her chameleon like change proves her wise as she remains positive, loyal and friendly despite her obvious physical differences, which the other children constantly point out to her. Though guardedly shy, she eventually grows as tall in stature, as the size of her towering heart. By chance, she forms a most unlikely friendship with a young hog. Pinky Pig, the carpenter, sees Ginny's potential and coaxes her to become a crane for moving the tree trunks he's fallen. They team up to successfully build thatched, dome homes for the other island animals. Ginny quickly becomes loved and appreciated. Then something magical happens; her new vocation is so perfect a fit, that her self esteem invokes her body's color to change. Her joyous heart illuminates her like a beacon. In turn, the example she sets inspires the other animals to see the light of change in themselves too, which ultimately makes for a noticeably luminous island.
