This book will be a valuable resource to students and teachers of lip reading who wish to explore the ambiguity problem inherent in reading lip movements. The Lip Reading Thesaurus does not tell you how to solve the ambiguity problem but simply draws your attention to the extent of the problem by bringing together the various words that have identical or very similar lip shape patterns. The Thesaurus has been compiled using the Lipreading Dictionary, another book in this series. Of the approximately 10,000 words in the dictionary, over 3000 (about 30%) were found to have identical or very similar lip shape patterns to other word(s) in the dictionary.
