People love their pets. Some of them have very special relationships with them. The Lubby Lubby Story is about a little puppy who was brought to a shelter in hopes to be adopted by a family who will love and care for him. The little dog has a poem at the start of the book telling how he would love and respect whatever family that would adopt him. The charecter in the book is the little dog and he talks about what it was like being adopted and how much fun he has with his new family. He describes the words Lubby Lubby as a term of endearment, such as love, or a kiss, or even a hug. It is all about the play on those silly little playful words that children enjoy using, "Lubby Lubby." The author of the book, was of course the owner of the little mixed terrier and she makes a point of the fact that you don't have to pay hundreds of dollars to have a good pet. The local SPCA adopts pets, dogs and cats for a small fee and the feeling a person gets knowing he or she saved that pets life seems to make that pet more special than ever. In this story the Lubby dog tells young readers how you should care for a pet and how that owning a pet is a big responsibility. He teaches morals and values, such as caring, responsible behavior, loyalty and basically how pets and children are very much alike.
