The Market Street Chronicles is a veritable romp through Mr. Cain's imagination. In 1870, Pastor Ben Rogers thought he could save the people of Belle Vernon. In 1884, at the age of 34, he realized he was wrong . dead wrong. In 1935, the fifth floor of the Market Street Apartments goes up in flames. In 1998, sixty-three years later, two people are murdered on the same night shortly after construction workers begin to restore the fifth floor.
