Notă biografică

Amanda Phillips is a doctoral candidate in Islamic Art & Archaeology at the Khalili Research Centre for the Art and Material Culture of the Middle East at the University of Oxford. Her dissertation is about the economics of production and consumption of luxury textiles in the 17th-century Ottoman Empire; she also publishes on printed cottons from the Middle East. Her next project is to launch a broadside against constructions of "cosmopolitanism" in the early modern Mediterranean. Refqa Abu-Remaileh is a doctoral candidate at the University of Oxford's department of Modern Middle Eastern Studies, working primarily on modern Arabic literature and film. Her dissertation focuses on the literary works two Palestinian-Israelis: Emile Habibi's literary works and the films of Elia Suleiman, adopting an inter-arts approach to thematic and formal analysis of literature and film.
