The Great War was the first military conflict that involved armies from around the globe. It was a bloody conflict but men still enlisted with geat pride, with brave ambitions and hardly realising the struggle that was ahead. Across the nation men went to war and many never returned. War memorials, erected as tributes to local heroes, are evident in large cities and in small villages and each year respect is duly paid to the sacrifice some men made. This book looks at the names engraved on memorials at Market Drayton, a small Shropshire market town, and tries to provide some insight into each one and their familes.
