Seventeen-year-old Jake is known as the local troublemaker, but he hasn't always been that way. At age six, his mother, father, and twin brother perished in a car accident, leaving Jake to live with his nan and granddad, who, even now, grieve over their loss. Feeling neglected and angry, Jake becomes known as a rowdy vandal and graffiti artist. On the way to the grocery store to pick up some items for his nan, Jake stops to mail a complaint letter and is suddenly transported to another dimension. Reminiscent of Dickens's "A Christmas Carol, " Jake is shown three different scenarios where people's rude behaviors negatively affect others around them. He first meets a waiter and his manager at an understaffed local fish and chips shop, where, instead of helping serve the customers, the manager yells about the waiter working too slowly and then blames him for the customers' poor experience. Jake then finds himself in a nursing home where he witnesses a man being rude to the nursing home staff because of a mix-up in his mother's schedule. Once Jake realizes that there is no reason for this man's angry behavior, he is transported once more. This time, he meets a boy named John, who is poorly treated by his grandparents and very unhappy. Jake realizes that his actions need to change. But as he tries to make amends with others he's hurt, will he finally uncover the truth about his parents' accident?
