Notă biografică

Ralph Hudson was born in Bradford, West Yorkshire in 1928. In a town, like many northern towns where many young women did not marry because there were not enough available young men. A town that had lost many of its bright, idealistic young men who answered the call to serve King and country. People spoke of the war, of the Somme and other place names almost in a whisper. In his boyhood the veterans, now the fathers of his friends spoke little of the war, probable wanting to forget. It was only in their old age that they recalled the horrors of their war. It was then, in his forties that he had the honour of meeting many of these proud, still patriotic veterans and of listening to their stories.
