Enlightened individuals burdened with socioeconomic hardship and oppressed by political and legal injustice often go to any means to free themselves, seeking refuge in a land where just laws and personal liberties can help their dreams become reality. The African who struggles with poverty, illness and hunger created by social injustice; the Thai children blinded and exploited by human traffickers; the Afghan woman disfigured by a fanatic; they all dream of a place on earth were fair civic laws and freedom can be found. While many look to America as promised land for these reasons, they are often unaware of the pitfalls of a complex economic system that subjugates their soul, and oblivious to the moral decay and social decadence that threatens the foundations of their existence. Yet in spite of the moral corruption and the harsh capitalist economy, it would be unfair to deny the superior value of the American constitution as a protector of human rights and personal liberties compared to other frameworks of its kind.
