The Missing Piece

Autor Harold "Bud" Boughton
en Limba Engleză Hardback – 31 aug 2011
Are we truly living our lives? Or are we just coping? Clearly, the world has changed, and continues to change at an ever-accelerating pace. Extraordinarily relevant, and even more so since the disastrous events of September 11th, The Missing Piece is a poignant, honest examination of how each of us seeks to find our own sense of security in what has become a very insecure world. Beginning with an engaging story about a little boy spending the day with his grandfather, the author takes us on a journey and through the eyes of the wise elder, leads us to consider what really is important in our lives. The Missing Piece then examines the many different ways (formal education, our relationships, marriage, careers, the accumulation of wealth, etc.) in which we strive to find this sense of security. But, one nagging question remains ... Why is it we never seem to get there, to find that sense of security? In the final chapters of the book, the author suggests the possibility of finding something we long for -- in essence, a different missing peace. The book concludes its journey as it revisits the inquisitive grandchild from the story. Now a grown man, he finds himself reflecting on his own life and remembering the words of his grand- father as he accomplishes what, for him, has been a life-long dream. Ultimately, The Missing Piece is a book about hope. Filled with real-life examples of the many challenges we face in our daily lives, the priorities we set for ourselves and the choices we make as we seek to find a sense of security, the book reminds us that there is always the possibility, the hope, for a better tomorrow.
