The Naked God: The Night's Dawn trilogy
Autor Peter F. Hamiltonen Limba Engleză Paperback – 23 aug 2018
The third book in the The Night's Dawn trilogy, The Naked God by Peter F. Hamilton is an epic conclusion to dramatic and compelling series. The Confederation is starting to collapse politically and economically, allowing the 'possessed' to infiltrate more worlds. Quinn Dexter is loose on Earth, destroying the giant arcologies one at a time. As Louise Kavanagh tries to track him down, she manages to acquire some strange and powerful allies whose goal does not match her own. The campaign to liberate Mortonbridge from the possessed degenerates into a horrendous land battle, the kind that hasn't been seen by humankind for six hundred years. Then some of the protagonists escape in a very unexpected direction . . .
Joshua Clavert and Syrinx now fly their starships on a mission to find the Sleeping God - which an alien race believes holds the key to finally overthrowing the possessed.

Victor Tanasa a dat nota:
Quite an experience. The only other series that I've felt as immersed in as the Night's Dawn trilogy was the author's Commonwealth saga. You get to know so much of the characters and their universe that when things start to turn sour you can fully appreciate what challenges and repercussions they'll face. I appreciate how Hamilton shows the strife of not only the classical heroes - starship captains, admirals, special agents and so on, but also that of the common men and women. It's a great (and personal) way of exposing how the actions of the former affect the latter. The settings themselves have a character of their own too. As much as I enjoyed the vast ensemble cast, there were a bit too many characters and some subplots were admittedly less interesting than others. One was given a lot of attention and while very enjoyable, it ultimately didn't have the expected impact on the main plot. Overall, it felt less tight than the Commonwealth series. I've read in other reviews that people were unsatisfied with the ending. True, when it drew near, I felt like there were way too many threads to resolve in such a short time, but I liked how Hamilton pulled it off. Not going into spoiler territory, for me it was a question of how instead of who. It was a lot of time to invest, but it was totally worth it.
