Dr. Lucas Volini is a licensed marriage and family therapist in the state of Minnesota. Currently, Dr. Volini is the Clinical Director and core faculty for the Master of Science in Marriage and Family Therapy program at St. Cloud State University with a primary responsibility to oversee the clinical training requirements of the program, teach core courses, and advance his body of research. Holding a doctorate degree in Marriage and Family Therapy from Argosy University and master of arts degree in Marriage and Family Therapy from Saint Mary's University, he maintains professional membership in the American Family Therapy Academy, American Association for Marriage and Family Therapy, and the National Council on Family Relations. Dr. Volini is also a board member for the Minnesota Association for Marriage and Family Therapy. Dr. Volini's research focuses on the development of Global Systems Theory to inform Global Family Therapy, an emerging approach of individual, couple, and family therapy that focuses on the interactional dynamics of cultural worldviews and self-esteem within and between family and social systems. Ultimately, Dr. Volini hopes to use this approach in reconciling conflict between opposing cultural groups. His research has been published in The American Journal of Family Therapy and presented at national conferences. Dr. Volini is also the author of a study guide and narrator of an audio review disc set that prepares professionals in marriage and family therapy to pass the national licensing exam. Clinically, Dr. Volini has developed and directed a trauma-focused adolescent day treatment program, served as an outpatient therapist at a community mental health clinic, a school-based therapist, and an in-home family therapist. Currently, Dr. Volini practices through the Lorenz Clinic of Family Psychology (Victoria, MN), a Family Psychology training clinic where he sees individuals, couples, and families. Most importantly, he is a fortunate and grateful husband to his wife, Lauren, and a loving father to his two children, Jackson James and Antonia AnnMarie.
