College student Caitlyn James rents a house at a price that seems too good to be true her last year of school. Unfortunately, the offer was made by the ex-wife of the owner, Dagan Brandt, in order to cause problems for him. To make the contract work, Caitlyn agrees to live in his house while it is remodeled, and he takes a job outside the country for the school year. His friend, Annabelle, oversees the remodel project, but resents Caitlyn since she wants Dagan for herself. Caitlyn and Dagan communicate through emails, phone calls, and computer chats about the progress of the house and their daily lives. In the few days when he's home for the holidays, there's chemistry, and Caitlyn can't ignore it, but she also can't afford to move out.
