The New Scramble for Africa or a Win-Win Partnership?

Autor Malwina Talik
en Limba Engleză Paperback – 16 dec 2019
Increasing labour costs in China are pushing domestic companies to invest abroad so they can stay competitive. Therefore, one of the chief objectives of China's 'Go Out' policy is the increase of Chinese Foreign Direct Investment (FDI). As a result, many African countries, including Ethiopia, witnessed intensified political and economic cooperation with China over the past two decades. The growing presence of Chinese investments offers Ethiopia many opportunities, but also rises concerns about its potential, detrimental effects on the Ethiopian economy. This book seeks to answer the question of whether the nature of the Sino-Ethiopian partnership is more of a ¿win-win cooperation¿ or ¿the new scramble for Africä.
