The Night of Broken Glass

Autor Dr Cristina Guarneri
en Limba Engleză Paperback – 20 iul 2015
It was just after World War I, Germany had been humiliated by the Versailles Treaty that decreased the prewar territory. With the German Empire destroyed, a new system of government was about to emerge. With great financial struggles and high unemployment came the beginning of political differences that would overpower the government. It was then that a weak government system would be blamed on one culture and one faith, as political unrest would spark one of the largest Nazi propaganda schemes in history, and one of the greatest misfortunes that would ever be experienced by a people. At just nine years, two young brothers would watch as their lives would change forever. Sitting on the sidewalk not far from the street, both Shane and Jacob Solomon witnessed a man in his late seventies yelling to them as he hurried by. They never forget what he said to them that day. In just a short time, they began to understand what was happening, as their parents began to prepare them to escape our native home of Germany. They would have to leave that night in order to stay alive. By the ninth hour, the search was finally over, as the sounds of the freight train thundered before hearing a fierce noise had signaled that the train had come to its final destination. Waking up, Jacob and Shane were dazed by the long train ride away from the ghetto and to a life far away from it all.
