The Night of the Noises/The Noises of the Night

Autor Mar Pavón Ilustrat de María José Olavarría
en Limba Engleză Hardback – 9 iun 2014 – vârsta de la 4 ani
Luke is a very brave little boy, but when night falls he pulls his sheets up over his eyes with fear. He can’t get to sleep; he’s scared of the darkness that makes his imagination run wild, and he suspects the shadows conceal terrifying creatures who are sneaking up on his bed, or hiding behind the drapes in his room. Every sound in the dark is a new peril. But what is actually making the noises in the night?

One of the most common phobias experienced by children is fear of the dark. The Night of the Noises and The Noises of the Night are two versions of the same story, brought together in an original, entertaining book that will help children to overcome their fear of the dark, relax and drift off to sleep.

Notă biografică

Mar Pavón (Manresa, Spain, 1968) is a writer mainly dedicated to children's literature. Some of her extensive work is translated into English, French, Portuguese, Italian, German, Dutch, Chinese and Korean, among other languages. She has been honored with prestigious awards in the US, some of which were presented by the International Latino Book Awards. Her most significant work is Yeray Poeta, published following the birth of her son in 1996. Her most popular character is "Clucky the Hen", created in collaboration with the illustrator Mónica Carretero, winner of several awards and recognitions.

The memories of María José Olavarría go back to a childhood full of dreams, built from castles of a thousand colors, where her brush was the most precious communication tool. She studied Graphic Design at the University of Valparaíso (Chile). After some professional experiences and dedicating herself to motherhood by heart and choice, she reinvented herself playing with textures and techniques, until she recognized that illustration completed her soul and allowed her to rescue and playfully capture the magical world of hers. She has lived for eleven years in southern lands, in the countryside near Temuco, in Chile, surrounded by nature and her four children, who are her source of inspiration.
