Daniel Chalmers is a general technician/ Mr. fixit working in the Mars colony of New New Providence where he has lived for the past seven Earth years. A brutal and senseless act of violence sends him into the depths of despair which he has to escape any way he can. He chooses to steal a spaceship and take it for a joy ride, discovering along the way his true inner self, as well as a civilisation that can rightly be described as civilised.
