Notă biografică
Carmen M. Mangion teaches modern British history at Birkbeck University of London. Her research examines the cultural and social history of gender and religion in nineteenth and twentieth-century Britain relating to the formation and re-imagining of religious identities during times of social change. Her current research has two strands, the first examines the decline of the lay sister category of religious life. The second, interrogates the gendered nature of the Catholic medical missionary movement, 1891-1951, in both Britain and Ireland.Susan O'Brien is a Senior Member of St Edmund's College, University of Cambridge and a former Deputy Vice-Chancellor of Staffordshire University and former Principal of the Margaret Beaufort Institute of Theology in Cambridge. Her research has centred on transatlantic evangelical revivalism and nineteenth-century Catholicism in Britain, Ireland, and France. She is currently working on two projects: the edited correspondence of Frances Margaret Taylor (1832-1900) and an oral-based history of Catholic religious men and women in inner city ministry in England 1970-2000.
