The Parables of Jesus

Autor Luise Schottroff Traducere de Linda M. Maloney
en Limba Engleză Paperback – 31 ian 2006
A premier New Testament scholar explores how Jesus' trial and execution are portrayed in the New Testament and how that portrayal has affected biblical studies, Christian theology, and Jewish-Christian relations through history. Tomson has written an accessible, responsible analysis of the biblical accounts of Jesus' death, demonstrating how, through compounded misunderstandings, they contributed to anti-Jewish sentiment in the early church and later history. Tomson's question of how Jesus is to be understood in his first-century Judean context is a critical one not only for biblical scholars, but for anyone concerned about human rights and interreligious dialogue today.

Recenzii

"A far ranging, stimulating and provocative volume that proposes a holistic and integrated approach to the parables. A special strength of the volume can be found in Schottroff's concerted effort to set the parables in the tradition of Jewish parabolic literature." -- William R. Herzog II, Colgate Rochester Divinity School "This book is a brilliant combination of social history, literary acumen, and feminist/liberationist perspectives. It is a 'must read' for anyone, scholar, pastor or student alike, who has ever tried to interpret or preach from the parables." -- Mary Ann Tolbert, Pacific School of Religion and the Graduate Theological Union
