Recenzii
'Thoroughly interesting. A novel, vivid approach, both learned andimaginative, The Prophet Muhammad explores faith and feelingthrough literature, myth and psychology as well as traditionalscholarship and Muslim challenges to tradition, with the bonus ofillustrations that take us on a world tour of lived Islam. All readerswill be enriched by Burge's discussion of prophethood and surprisedby its renewed relevance today.'
'This book is one of the best introductions to the life of Muhammadas a religious figure. Wonderfully written, The Prophet Muhammadoffers a measured and moving account of Muhammad's role as theprophet of Islam, bringing to life the latest scholarship on the topic. This unique and compelling read is a welcome addition to the arrayof literature on Muhammad and prophecy in Islam.'
'This book explores who Muhammad was and why he remainsa revered figure and model for imitation around the world today.Burge subtly pinpoints Muhammad's distinctiveness within theSemitic prophetic tradition, looking at his teachings and themovement he started, showing precisely why the 7th-centuryArabian prophet remains critically important for both Muslims andnon-Muslims alike.'
This book is a valuable addition to the field of Sirah. It sheds new light on the life of Prophet Muhammad (blessings and peace be upon him). It is a must-read for the promotion of interfaith dialogue to counter the current menace of religious extremism and exclusivism. It is equally worth recommending to students and scholars of Islamic Studies, Comparative Religion and other related disciplines.
