As a younger student, Robert D. Morritt wrote for a local newspaper on Archaeological excavations at an Iron Age settlement near Penarth in Wales (situated at Michelston-le-Pit, near Dinas Powys). He studied Prehistory and early agriculture at the University of Manchester.
