A young woman is found stabbed to death in her apartment, a red handkerchief stuffed in her mouth. When a second woman is found murdered in the same way the police begin hunting for a serial killer. Detectives Steven Hodgeson and John Moore are assigned to the task force investigating the case. But Moore can't shake the gut feeling that something's wrong. Hodgeson isn't sure if his partner is right, or if Moore himself is becoming dangerous.
