The Research Development on Molecular Engineering of Polymers

Editat de Jia Guo, Guosong Chen, Jianfeng Li, Huisheng Peng
en Limba Engleză Hardback – 11 ian 2025
This open access book provides a description on polymer science and technology, ranging from polymer chemistry, polymer physics, to polymers for energy storage and conversion and polymer processing. All the authors contributing to the book are the faculty members of the Department of Macromolecular Science, Fudan University. They are scholars and experts who have established themselves in their own fields respectively. The topics selected in this book are used to summarize significant contributions to chemistry and material communities of the department in the past decade. The book not only presents cutting-edge fields such as precise protein self-assembly, glycochemical biology, fiber polymer battery, and energy transduction, but also provides insights into the basic theoretical investigation and applications such as phase field, self-consistent field, and polymer condensed physics. Moreover, this book illustrates the research paradigm of molecular engineering of polymers by highlighting the research progress at Fudan University as an example of the rapid developments in polymer science in China. Also, this book is a celebration of the 30th anniversary of the Department of Macromolecular Science. Given its scope, this book appeals to a broad readership, especially for students and researchers engaged in polymer science and technology, who can benefit from the polymer-related theory, experiments, applications, and engineering.

Notă biografică

Jia Guo is a professor at the Department of Macromolecular Science, Fudan University. He received his Ph.D. in polymer chemistry and physics from Fudan University in 2007. Then, he joined the group of Prof. Donglin Jiang at the Institute for Molecular Science (IMS, Japan) as a JSPS postdoctoral fellow. At the end of 2009, he joined the faculty of the Department of Macromolecular Science at Fudan University, where he is now a full professor. His current research efforts focuses on exploring the structure–activity relationships of porous organic polymers in the fields of catalysis and biomedical applications.
Guosong Chen is a professor at the Department of Macromolecular Science, Fudan University. She studied chemistry at Nankai University, where she obtained her B.Sc. in 2001. In 2006, she received her Ph.D. with the same university in supramolecular chemistry. After her postdoctoral studies in carbohydrate chemistry at Iowa State University, she moved to Fudan University in December 2008, where she joined the department as a lecturer, working on the interface of macromolecular self-assembly and supramolecular chemistry. Then she was promoted to an associate professor in 2011 and a professor in 2014. She was supported by the Excellent Youth Foundation and Outstanding Youth Foundation of NSFC. After 2014, her research focus has been reoriented to carbohydrate-based macromolecular self-assembly and its biological functions. She was elected as a fellow of Royal Chemical Society (FRSC) and serves as an associate editor of ACS Macro Letters and international board members for several journals.

Jianfeng Li is a professor at the Department of Macromolecular Science, Fudan University. He received his Ph.D. in polymer chemistry and physics from Fudan University in 2010. During 2007–2009, he studied in the Department of Physics and Astronomy at McMaster University as a visiting student. Then, he joined the group of Prof. Xingao Gong at the Department of Physics, Fudan University, as a postdoctoral fellow. He joined the Department of Macromolecular Science at Fudan University as a lecturer in 2012 and became a full professor in 2019. His current research interests include soft condensed matter physics, non-equilibrium thermodynamics of biological systems, and physical modeling of human brain.
