This book is a "facilitation" and it has but one purpose: that is to allow God's word to give its own testimony. What we commonly call the Gospel of John is actually a message that God caused him to sit down and write. A more accurate description of this book is "The Salvation Bringing Message of God," written so that men might believe in Jesus Christ, and believing have "life" through His name. Is there any other book that makes this claim? No man can improve upon God's words. His words are spirit and they are life. The purpose of this book is to help allow YOU to let these words speak to YOU. What YOU do afterwards is up to YOU - it will be between YOU and God.
