en Limba Engleză Hardback – 27 mar 2023
This handbook - the product of a master tailor's lifetime of work - is a valuable resource for mastering the principles and techniques of traditional bespoke tailoring.
An essential tool for understanding and applying artisanal techniques to contemporary bespoke tailoring.
Based on the practice and teaching experience of a master tailor, this thoroughly detailed book contains the fundamental principles of traditional sartorial garment construction: the art of designing, cutting, fitting, and finishing made-to-measure menswear. Constituting a return to precision in hand-crafted tailoring and a valuable practical guide for fashion students, professionals, tailoring lovers and sewing fans, it brings together a wealth of techniques that have been honed by three generations of this family of artisan tailors practicing their craft from 1915 to the present day. This comprehensive treatise includes chapters dedicated to body and garment measurements, how to craft patterns (including different techniques to adapt to the physical characteristics of each client), and how to create a wide range of classic styles of jackets, waistcoats, trousers and coats.

Notă biografică

At the age of 23, Artiel García Aliste (1940-2019) took over the family's third-generation tailoring trade from his father Artiel García Parra (1920-1951) who in turn, had inherited it from his father Amaro García Caballero (1868-1932). For years, he has combined his meticulous tailoring services with intense work as a teacher at the Escuela Superior de Sastrería (School of Dressmaking) in Madrid, Spain, founded by the Spanish Tailors Association in 1868. For many years, Aliste was also director of the official publication of the Tailors Association, the Revista Sartorial Española (Spanish Sartorial Journal), and lectured and published many technical works and articles. Once he retired, he dedicated his time to sharing the knowledge acquired during more than 75 years of dedication to professional education, and to collecting information and published materials on the profession at an international level.
