This work delves into the historical sources, origins, locations and values embedded in the way of life of ancient Igbo traditions and creates a proper foundation for the study of initiation rites. In a very clear manner, the author summarizes the significant role of initiation in traditional Igbo culture and religion, and translates its relevance to a new society where modern Christian culture exists.
