Once upon a time a little orphaned girl named Dark Eyes lived in the mountains of ancient North America with her wise grandmother, a medicine woman.

Dark Eyes has a special gift: she talks to animals and she can see with her heart. But her beautiful gift is not understood by the tribal children. She is feared because she is different until one faithful day the animals warn of a terrible disaster.
