Recenzii

The introduction is very helpful for students....A very convenient way for students to get primary material and a grasp of central issues in First Amendment cases.
Up-to-date....A very useful and highly recommended book for anyone who has an interest in understanding the reasoning behind Supreme Court decisions in this matter of Church-State relations.
A well researched and organized account of Supreme Court cases dealing with church and state matters.
A very readable survey for students at the lower levels with little or no background in Constitutional Law.
Robert Alley's The Supreme Court on Church and State fills a longstanding and serious gap in constitutional law teaching materials. It admirably covers the essentials of both free exercise and establishment. The cases have been chosen and edited with great sensitivity to the needs of students at several different levels and of teachers who are legally trained as well as those who are not. The compact size and the modest cost of the book make it an admirable addition toteaching materials in this relatively specialized area.
The best documentary collection dealing with the relationship between Church and State that I have seen.
An excellent book of constitutional cases concerning religion. The introduction and the introductory paragraphs for each decision are helpful to the student. The presentation of cases is clear and attractive. This is an important subject of general interest in our time
Exactly what I was looking for.
We have long awaited an update of Joseph Tussman's 1962 edition....Robert Alley has given us this well-organized and updated version....Well summarized and edited. I have adopted it.
I used Tussman until it went out of print. I'm delighted to see it back [and] expanded.
An excellent blend of classic and contemporary cases spanning the years 1925-1987....Highly recommended for anyone interested in the Supreme Court's interpretation of one of the most important parts of the Constitution.
Written in a fresh, non-partisan fashion, this book furnishes a documentary review
