The Talents of Tavegnor

Autor MR Byron a. Cooper
en Limba Engleză Paperback
The 'Talents of Tavegnor' is a telling of four young heroes who recruit Beorn, a less than successful Bard, for service to the Realm. This story draws the five companions into a fast-paced adventure filled with danger and intrigue. Beorn, in the latter part of his life, is the tool for delivering this tale as he is endeavoring to add to recorded Tavegnor history. Tavegnor is an island continent ruled by a king chosen among seven Dukes who make up a parliament by treaty. The land has a history of conflict but has recently enjoyed a peace based on mutual trust and explicit treaties among the Realms. Roads to and from the Dukedoms are loaded with trade and free of barriers. On the surface, this a magical, fantasy adventure set in a medieval-like age loaded with magicians, beast masters, etc. But the reader will see the potential reality of the mental powers a person can develop if practiced enough. The Bard learns to see this in the four young heroes he travels with. Their specific, extreme mental skills are such that the four are known as 'Talents'. War is the challenge that the adventurers are drawn into, so there is crisis and intrigue all must face. As the Bard is carried along, so is the reader. Treachery, heroism, cowardice, mistrust, and companionship, are all a part of the telling. As Beorn tells his tale, he shows that war is chaotic and unpredictable. The adventurers are pulled and pushed in many directions. Their trek is, at the same time, repetitive, unexpected and confusing. This story does not end with all mysteries and questions answered. It deliberately reflects the realities of human conflict and challenges.
