Notă biografică
Retired British Army officer, military historian and author, Stephen Pope is acknowledged as the world expert on the Battle of Flers Courcelette in which tanks were used for the first time during the Battle of the Somme in September 1916.
He led the centenary celebrations of the battle in France as well as leading many smaller battlefield tours to the area. He is the lead researcher into tank crew actions at the Battle of Flers-Courcelette during September 1916 as well as author of "The First Tank Crews" published Helion and Co in April 2016.
A member of the British Commission for Military History, Stephen's next project is to revise and update "The Tanks at Flers" by Trevor Pidgeon, which was published in 1995 and, whilst out of print; a book which is in great demand by those with an interest in the battle.
