There are moments of every day where it's possible to teach students something new about the world. But now and then something happens that enables a teacher to reach a little deeper and catch the attention of a student they might have otherwise had difficulty reaching. This book is a collection of stories from teachers about their ""teachable moment,"" when they reached a particular student they might have not reached otherwise.  
The point of capturing interest can be different for every child. It can be a science lesson where he or she says ""that's how it works!"" or a story that captures their imagination or even a math lesson where the idea of making change suddenly makes sense. These moments are where the interest level suddenly increases and the student is engaged. And it's the most rewarding of times for the teachers themselves.
