After divorcing daytime TV star Solela Mist for the second time, Constantine Drake believes he's found the tranquility he seeks living aboard Quiet Muse, a converted 40ft trawler moored in the rustic estuary of Seal Cove 150 miles north of Los Angeles. Hoping to put his past behind him, Drake writes a column for the local paper and spends his evenings fishing. Until, one night off Jergens' Head, he pulls the naked body of a young woman from an unforgiving ocean. Drake learns she was a Senator's daughter at around the same time he finds himself under suspicion. Someone must know how she ended up floating off the SoCal coast, and it falls to Drake to find out. Reluctantly, he renews his expired PI license and starts putting the pieces together. But when the trail leads to a mobster-run high-stakes poker game aboard a 90ft luxury yacht, Drake finds that, like the Senator's daughter, he could be in over his head.
