In the 1920s, New York composer Roger Locke purchases a home near a lake in the Connecticut countryside. From his first night in the house, he experiences eerie phenomena in the dark - namely, the appearance of a strange woman in the house, coupled with threats from a sinister presence in the lake. With the help of the property's caretakers, Roger works to unravel the history of the house, as well as the identity of the woman he prays is more than just a spirit.
