The mainland interior of this island nation including Porgera was first entered by the outside world in the late 1930s in prospect of gold. Due to the relatively late discovery by European Explorers, civilization had less impact on its inhabitants until very recently, about more than half a century ago. Before the discovery by the outside world, there were prophets who lived amongst the people of the main land interior (Porgera) of Papua New Guinea. These prophets made various prophecies relating to the end of the world.
