White Stripes poster assignment remarks by JC Hall, original publisher: "Gary was beyond excited when he got this gig...Never saw him so eager to get to work on a poster; he had a 5-week window; it was finished in 5 days. Known for his humility as much as for his remarkable talent, I received an email out of character from Gary Grimshaw with the poster design; his email began, 'Pardon my coolness.' It felt good to see Gary so happy with the design, which obviously was a home run. Not just a home run, he hit it out of the park. Gary genuinely enjoyed this; he'd hit home runs before but this one meant a lot to him. I would say kind of like getting your 500th home run, or your 3000th base hit. Gary was definitely a 'Hall of Fame'er. This poster design puts an exclamation point after that statement."
