The Witness: Poetry, Spoken Word, Poetic Story-Telling: 1984-2019

Autor Deborah Esther Nyamekye
en Limba Engleză Paperback – 15 aug 2020
The Witness is a collection of poetry, spoken word and poetic (fictitious) stories. They represent what the author, Deborah Esther Nyamekye calls "sights and sounds" of our world and "echoes" of the human heart and mind, all unlocked by poetic expression. They span a period of 35 years of Deborah's life, starting from 1984 to 2019. The poetry in chapter 1 discusses as reflects, biographies, general incidents and events, issues that many people whether children, adults, male or female experience at any stage in their lives. They cover mental health, oppression, depression, self esteem. As with Chapter 1, in Chapter 2 poems cover topics that are intended to raise awareness and to start or ensure conversations about serious issues affecting humanity never stop as openness and transparency is the beginning of healing, rehabilitation or liberation through various means. Poems in chapter 2 expose things as they are and at the same time express a desire and hope for justice, truth, deliverance and a change of circumstances. In chapter 3, a certain type of person is portrayed namely the hater, offender, self-aggrandiser and their victims. In chapter 4, the dark side of the human mind and motives in juxtaposition with an equally dark world are laid bare. Humanity has the greatest influence over the world than any other creature; what unravels is a reflection of what's deeply embedded in the hearts and minds of mankind...not a pretty picture and that's an understatement. It is evident within the poems of Chapter 5 that hope of the positive human experience, a personal redemption story including the restoration of interpersonal relationships is possible and must be clenched tightly never to let go when attained...Come what may harmonious co-existence is possible. Chapter 6 is a reflection on seasons of the year, about places (i.e. Africa, Ghana, London), situations in life and attitudes. Chapter 7 address the subject of love, emotions associated with love and how people deal with these emotions. Chapter 8 is a mixture of poems that are reflections, prayers, provide counsel, motivation and inspiration. Please add a review after you read the book. thank you Deborah** ** ** Reviews / Comments from readers about some poems I shared frequently on social media/blogs: Part 1"I absolutely love The Man Child...Still.
