The Woollyhoodwinks are five cuddly creatures who enjoy life in the richly textured Black North Forest. Junco leads the imaginative Ludic, the prankster Reddy, the reasonable Ozard, and the cute baby named Fluke.
However, their carefree existence is interrupted when a piece of the sky falls to earth. There this dark patch begins to grow! As it spreads over the ground and disturbs the tranquility of their woodland home, these adorable friends take turns trying to solve this strange mystery. How will the naturally inventive ‘Hoodwinks save the day? Find out!
True to the dolls’ original handcrafted designs, the illustrations ingeniously resemble landscapes stitched from colorfully patterned fabrics. The Woollyhoodwinks appeal to the dreamer in everyone.
Created by San Francisco artists Jeff Root and Scott Runcorn, the popular Woollyhoodwink plush dolls are available at gift and museum stores throughout North America. The book is written by their collaborators Asa Sanchez and Phil Dumesnil.
“I cannot remember the last time I fell so hard for a work of children's literature! Seriously. First of all, the Woolyhoodwinks are a set of handmade characters that live in the Black North Forest. For families who are fans of simple, rustic, charming creatures for play, this cast of characters will bring you much delight! As much as I adore the non-commerical, against-the-mainstream aspect of the characters of the book, as well as the minimalist approach to illustrations, what I really love is the text. It is full of poetic prose that just sings off of the page.” – Sorta Crunchy
"Woolyhoodwinks - Very cute, very existential: While I may not always feel smartre enough for Sartre, The Woollyhoodwinks vs. the Dark Patch is one for this existentialist. With a mix of cute handmade sock-puppet-looking things (the aforementioned Woollyhoodwinks) and whimsical sentences that shock and please with their originality, if you like your adult books intense, this is the kids' book for you....Of course your kids just may think the dolls are cute. And that's okay too." – Cool Mom Picks

Notă biografică
This book is a collaborative effort of four friends in San Francisco, CA. At an age when most folks have long set down their toys for more grown-up pursuits, these guys thought it might be fun to create a few whimsical characters (Jeff Root), bring them to life (Scott Runcorn), and write songs and stories about them (Phil Dumesnil and Asa Sanchez respectively).
