Notă biografică
Diana Alarcón is the Chief of Development Strategies and Policies at the United Nations Department of Economic and Social Affairs. She led the writing team for the World Economic and Social Survey, a flagship publications of DESA for the issues published in 2015, 2016 and 2017 and has been part of the writing team for WESS since 2007. Before joining UN/DESA, Diana worked in the Inter-American Development Bank, UNDP and the ILO. She has a PhD in Economics from the University of California, Riverside and has taught in several Universities in Mexico and the United States.Anis Chowdhury retired from the United Nations Secretariat in January 2016 after completing an eight-year career in the Department of Economic and Social Affairs (UN-DESA) in New York. He was at the United Nations Economic and Social Commission for Asia and the Pacific (UN-ESCAP) in Bangkok as Director of Macroeconomic Policy and Development Division (July 2012-Aug. 2014) and Director of Statistics Division. He was previouisly Professor of Economics at the University of Western Sydney, and has taught at the National University of Singapore , University of New England, and University of Manitoba. Anis was a founding managing editor of the Journal of the Asia Pacific Economy (1995-2008), where he continues as co-editor. He has published widely on East and Southeast Asia and on macro-development issues. He holds a PhD from the University of Manitoba and honours and master's degrees from Jahangirnagar University of BangladeshJosé Antonio Ocampo is a member of the Board of Banco de la República, Colombia's central bank, and Chair of the Committee for Development Policy of the United Nations Economic and Social Council (ECOSOC). He is also Professor (on leave) from Columbia University, and has occupied numerous positions at the United Nations and his native Colombia, including UN Under-Secretary-General for Economic and Social Affairs, Executive Secretary of the UN Economic Commission for Latin America and the Caribbean (ECLAC), and Minister of Finance, Minister of Agriculture and Director of the National Planning Office of Colombia. He has published extensively on macroeconomic theory and policy, international financial issues, economic and social development, international trade, and Colombian and Latin American economic history.
