You meet someone, fall in love, and live happily ever after...right? That's what Scotsman Jim MacDuff thought, but after years of being blissfully happy in London, everything he holds dear comes crashing, spectacularly down.

Hampshire born Felicity "Flick" Johnston-Hart is passionate about painting what she sees through the glass and she adores her first love, Jim, more than life. But her mother's high hopes for her only daughter eventually corrode Flick's happiness, making her believe that painting and Jim are simply not enough. Just like the subjects of her paintings, she begins to experience her life as an observer instead of really living. And she realises that some decisions--even though they may be wrong--once made cannot be undone.

After settling back into life as a single man in a beautiful Highland village, Jim is graced with an unexpected and unwanted visitor bringing painful news. A letter from beyond the grave leads him to do something he never imagined and takes him on a journey he didn't anticipate.
