John Abbot, part owner of a computer company, and his wife, Lisa, child psychologist, both carried the gene for a hereditary disease that they did not want to pass on. Eventually they adopted two boys and instilled in them the desire to help other children in like situations with a strong faith. John taught both boys his skills. His pleasure in computer designs was soon absorbed by his older son who began designing computer programs while still in high school. The younger boy's interest in motors and bicycles soon became a yard-care business involving other boys in low-income families. However, John and Lisa get killed in the crash of their private plane.
