Alex Saunders, the youngest of three brothers, details an amazing family history that traces back five generations and spans three continents. Along with recollections from Peter Paul-his now deceased brother who dictated a portion of his life story to his long-time assistant before he died-Saunders pieces together a unique autobiography compiled from his memory as well as many well-preserved papers. He offers a compelling glimpse into life before, during, and after World War II and illustrates how the Europeans who immigrated to Canada and the United States during that time frame later went on to make great contributions to both countries. Beginning with his childhood memories, Saunders chronicles his years of early career growth, to his often tumultuous relationship with his other brother, to the days when he developed blood tests that enabled patients to live longer despite dangerous cancer treatments.
