Treasured Family Recipes is a collection of Recipes too good to be forgotten Many are from times gone, but not forgotten; They are treasured Keepsakes passed down from the "Good Old Days" by Aunts, Cousins Mothers, Grandparents, Friends & others Not to mention the wonderful, newer, mouthwatering recipes of recent days that all reflect the love of good cooking. I could not resist including a few short stories from my early childhood during the Kansas Dust Bowl of the early 1930's to add just a pinch of spice, and a quick look at what we ate then and how we prepared it. I have also included some garden tips and hints that might be helpful to some, along with some of Grandma & Aunt Gladys homespun, natural remedies and tips on about everything from snakebite to headaches.You will find my special recipe for homemade lye soap that I made and used while raising my children and regularly until recent years when lye became so scarce. Yes you read it right, we cooked ate rattlesnake, it's good, tastes something like fried chicken.
