B. H. V. Topping is an emeritus professor of computational mechanics at Heriot-Watt University in Edinburgh and an honorary professor at the Pollack Mihaly Faculty of Engineering at the University of Pecs in Hungary. L. F. Costa Neves is a professor in the civil engineering department of the University of Coimbra in Portugal. R. C. Barros is a professor in the civil engineering department of the University of Porto in Portugal.
