'Tunes of Existence' is a collection of 8 different short stories. The author of this collection is Mr. Shiva Lamichhane. Mr. Lamichhane, born and raised in Nepal, has presented his insightful explanation based on the social events and various characteristic roles. Basically the stories are based on sexual exploitation, psychological violence, gender domination and harassment against the women in American and south Asian cross cultural societies. In such a sense, these characters show their capability catching the readers' affection and sympathy toward their suffering. In this view the characters are successful to show their passion and respectful behavior. It has been expected that this collection will be able to expose the supressions against women faced in various means making more visible in the existing global society and advocate for their right and dignity. The subject matter of the social status and diversity as well as the livelihood in the south Asian countries including Nepal would be interesting and attractive among readers living in the technologically advanced modern society including Europe and North America. The author of this collection Mr. Lamichhane is a new figure in the international adult literary field though he is an established writer in Nepalese literature. He is a published author of three poetry books, a collection of short stories, an adolescent Novel as well as a research book.
