Twelve Years & Eight Months takes the reader on a journey with the author who finds himself in the struggle of a life time after his wife is diagnosed with schizophrenia and refuse to comply with her medication and accept medical treatment. To protect his children and his sanity he decides to divorce her and becomes a single parent. In addition to taking care of his children, he has to maintain his job, deal with legal issues, fight with her family members, and pick up the pieces to put his life back together.

Victor Bankhead is a native of Kannapolis, NC and a 1981 graduate of Northwest Cabarrus HS. He is the youngest son of John R Bankhead Sr and Gladys M Bankhead. After graduating from HS, Victor join the U.S. Army as a Military Policeman and served 22 honorable years. During the course of his military service he married and of that union were born two children. After retiring from the Army Victor entered college and graduated in 2013. Twelve Years and Eight Months is his first attempt at writing a book. This book was written as a form of therapy after going through the prolonged mental illness of his wife.
