Twisted Trees: Bromo Perkins, cartea 4

Autor Tony Berry
en Limba Engleză Paperback – 16 oct 2018
The comfortable world of prosperous Melbourne businessman David McCoy is suddenly ripped apart when his playboy son ends up on life support after being viciously stabbed and left for dead. Within days, his socialite daughter is bailed up in her home, stripped and totally shaved of her long blonde tresses. Second son Bradley narrowly escapes death in a terrifying arson attack at his tinder-dry bush hideaway. So does non-swimmer eldest son Trevor when a speeding boat upends his kayak and tumbles him into the river. Each incident is followed by a cryptic message from the mysterious Tree Surgeon that he is carrying out essential pruning work on the family tree. McCoy knows there is something deeply sinister and dangerous behind the messages and tries to hide the details from over-protective second wife Melissa. He has a past that no one dare know. But what does he know of Melissa's past? And who is the threatening Tree Surgeon? Desperate for help, he enlists the aid of disgraced British agent and reluctant sleuth Bromo Perkins now working undercover as a specialist travel agent with the McCoys among his elite clients. Bromo seeks the genealogical expertise of long-time associate and lover Liz Shapcott. They delve deep into the foliage of McCoy's family tree to unravel a tortuous trail full of duplicity and death traps that winds back into the city's turbulent past of corruption, gangs and murder.

Notă biografică

Tony Berry is a journalist, editor and writer of crime fiction who has worked on newspapers, journals and magazines in the UK and Australia, where he emigrated several decades ago. In 2010 he made a spur of the moment decision to return to the UK and set up base in Cornwall while researching his family history. This resulted in the publication in 2011 of From Paupers to iPads, the story of his family across seven generations and three continents. He continues to edit fiction and non-fiction for clients in Australia and the UK and served for several years as editor of the quarterly journal of the Cornwall Family History Society. He devotes much of his spare time to running and for several years has been recognised as an elite competitor in masters' athletics at national and international level for distances from 5000m to the full marathon. His first two crime novels were shortlisted for the New South Wales Genre Fiction Award and the second also secured him one of only seven mentorships awarded by the Australian Society of Authors. He has since completed three more books in the ongoing series. Tony is a member of the Australian Society of Authors and a fully accredited member of the Institute of Professional Editors (Australia) and the Society of Editors and Proofreaders (UK).
