Notă biografică
Walter is native of Poland. At age 14, he left his family farm, joining a surveying and engineering firm to become an engineering surveyor for the Polish Infrastructure Ministry. His job enabled him to travel across the country, where he worked with and explored the lives of ordinary people from factory workers to farmers as well as high level communist party officials and university educators. As he witnessed the socialist/communist system shape humans into classes, not individuals, he noted the behavior of the political system which served well the communist establishment. A keen observer with great interest in world affairs and captivated by Radio Free Europe and the Voice of America. For several years, he planned his escape from Poland. Walter, a legal immigrant, become a naturalized American citizen in 1985, and is practicing civil engineer. He risked his life to escape from communism, a compelling story, in its own right, of one man's struggle.
