Twoey & the Goat

Autor Robbie Timmons
en Limba Engleză Hardback – 29 feb 2008 – vârsta de la 7 până la 12 ani
At the J.R. Brand Ranch, springtime sees the birth of many new thoroughbred foals. Each horse holds the promise that it may someday become a championship racehorse. A special mix of training, physical strength, and desire will be needed to realize that dream.

Two Links Back, affectionately called Twoey, is born with the bloodline of a champion but he will need concentration and confidence to become a winner. Support arrives for him in the unlikely form of a small goat named Kidd. Based on a true story about their lifelong friendship, Twoey & the Goat gives an inside view of the life and upbringing of racehorses—from their careful training to the joy and excitement of racing, from the thrill of winning to the pain of career-ending injuries. Twoey and his friend Kidd the goat will remain a team throughout.

Notă biografică

ROBBIE TIMMONS, a Detroit television news anchor and reporter since 1976, is one of the founding members of CANTER, a thoroughbred rescue group. Two Links Back, or Twoey as he affectionately became known, came to CANTER with his best friend, Kidd the Goat, in 2000. The friendship intrigued Robbie and prompted her to write a fictionalized account of their lives. Similar to the book, the real story of Twoey and Kidd ends happily, with CANTER coming to the rescue.
Robbie has received several Emmy Awards for her television news writing, reporting, producing, and anchoring. She is the news anchor of the Emmy Award-winning Action News at Noon and 5pm on WXYZ-TV Detroit. In 1973, Robbie became the first woman in the United States to anchor a 6 and 11pm newscast at WILX-TV in Lansing. She is listed in Who’s Who in America and was voted one of the most powerful women in Michigan in 2002.
Robbie is married to Jim Brandstatter, sportscaster for University of Michigan and Detroit Lions football, and author of Tales of Michigan Stadium I and II. The head of their household is a lively Shetland sheepdog named Cassie.
